On my commute the other day, I was listening to the Impulse release, One Down, One Up: Live At The Half Note. On disc two, host, Alan Grant, described the John Coltrane Quartet as, "one of the finest jazz groups around; today or any other day."
45 years later, how true and relevant is that?
